I really enjoyed Da'al and Katrina's story, it's a different twisted from other paranormal, I loved how Da'al people excepted . There was plenty of actions to keep you waiting to see what happen next.
I must say this isn't usually my kind of book But I am surprised I really like this book I couldn't put it down until it was finished I loved Katrina and Da'al a little romance with a little scifi Alien The first chapter I thought I can't read this but I stuck with it and I'm glad I did This book is a very good book
This was a far out story that literally stretched your creative mindset. It is good when a book can have you thinking beyond your present reality. This book was thought provoking with several twists. The romance was innocent and beautiful. As I allowed my mind to release and go with the flow of the book I was pleasantly surprised. This was a good read.
This book started off with the true feel of a science fiction novel. Actually, I had to read the cover again to make sure that I purchased the right novel...thinking that I was getting a subpar scifi romance when I made the purchase. After the first chapter I was amazed (and delighted) at the level of writing skill. But.. like most indie works...my hopes were dashed against the rocks like so much trash by chapter 3.
First, let me tell anyone who found this book after seeing what other readers bought after reading books by BWWM authors...this ain't one of those kinds of books. The only "interracial" thing about this book is that the main characters are different species! I have no clue why this book is tagged "interracial" although I suspect it was used to pull in readers that follow Theodora Taylor, Shyla Colt, Sienna Mynx, etc... False advertising at its best. And there isn't anything "paranormal" about this book... it's straight science fiction, So, if you are looking for paranormal BWWM or something similar look elsewhere. The "heroine" is not black based on the vague description given (long black hair from Australia). Not what I was looking for when I purchased this novel.
Second, the book is not really a romance --- there are some sex scenes between the alien and the human but nothing truly steamy. However, the characters are extremely one dimensional and you really don't care about them. And there is no romantic feelings -- it just seems like the heroine and her alien love interest like each other because they both have chosen to live a monogamous life (although that is proved wrong by the end of the book!). This book is written in 3rd person but the author squandered the opportunity to let the reader get to know each characters' thoughts and motivations. It was a let down not to really know what the alien was thinking without the underwhelming, amateur dialogue the author throws in.
Third, the pace isn't very fast and there isn't much action. Basically you have a story about the politics of the human caste system of the "have" and "have-nots" settling on a new planet and how these same humans can be a-holes to aliens. Finally, I found the writing style to be slightly schizophrenic. The book starts off in excellent fashion and then there were parts of the novel that felt like the author had no clue how to engage the reader. It was like I was reading a story written by two different people. With dialogue was extremely stilted in some parts, so much so that I cringed reading it, I wasn't sure if the author really knew how s/he wanted to present this novel -- as a tasteful sophisticated science fiction romance for readers that love scifi or as a lowbrow, immature novel for teens.
Would I recommend this book to others? No. Would I read another book by this author? Maybe even though I was not impressed by this book and slightly angered by the false advertising....
I did not enjoy this read.
